Prescription Policy
How Meds&More reviews prescriptions before dispensing — valid Rx requirements, secure upload, pharmacist checks, and customer responsibilities.
This Prescription Policy explains how Meds&More receives, stores, reviews, and links prescriptions to orders before dispensing prescription-required medicines. It should be read with our Terms of Use, Privacy Policy, and Licence Information page. It is an operational pharmacy notice — not medical advice.
Effective date: 08 August 2026
1. When a prescription is required
Products marked as prescription-required (Rx) are dispensed only after a pharmacist reviews a valid prescription for an eligible patient. Over-the-counter medicines and many wellness products do not require an Rx, but you should still follow the label and your clinician’s advice.
Important: Uploading a prescription does not guarantee approval, the full quantity requested, a particular brand, or stock availability.
2. Valid prescription requirements
Requirements can vary by medicine class and applicable Indian drug rules. For pharmacist review, a prescription should typically show:
- Patient details — name and age or date of birth (and gender where customary);
- Prescriber details — doctor’s name, qualification, and registration / contact details as ordinarily expected, with clinic or hospital identifier where applicable;
- Date of issue — clear prescription date; older prescriptions may be declined where clinically or regulatorily inappropriate;
- Medicines — name, strength, dosage form, quantity or duration, and directions for use;
- Authenticity markers — doctor’s signature and/or a legitimate e-prescription source;
- Clarity — a legible photo or PDF with all corners visible, not cropped mid-text, and not heavily blurred or overexposed.
Accepted upload formats on our storefront are PDF, JPG, PNG, or WebP, subject to the size limit shown in the upload flow. We may ask for a clearer copy or additional confirmation before approval.
3. Upload process and consent
- Open Upload prescription (guest staging is available; signing in lets you manage patients and follow review status).
- Choose a clear file and complete the patient details requested in the flow.
- Confirm the consent checkbox: that you are authorised to submit the prescription and consent to secure processing by authorised pharmacy staff for medicine review and fulfilment.
- Submit for pharmacist review. Where an order includes Rx items, fulfilment of those items waits on a successful review linked to that order.
Do not send prescriptions by unsecured email unless support specifically instructs you to. Use the storefront upload flow so files can be scanned, encrypted for storage, and access-controlled.
4. Pharmacist review before fulfilment
A registered pharmacist reviews prescription-required items before they are packed and shipped. Review typically covers:
- whether the prescription appears valid and sufficiently clear;
- match between the named patient, the prescription, and the order;
- dose plausibility and ordinary pharmacy safety checks;
- schedule-drug and other regulatory restrictions;
- quantity and repeat-supply reasonableness relative to the prescription.
We may supply a substitute brand or generic only where lawful, clinically appropriate, consistent with the prescription, and aligned with any substitution preferences you indicate at checkout or with support.
5. Schedule and restricted medicines
Schedule H, H1, X, and other restricted categories under applicable Drugs and Cosmetics rules are not sold without a valid, reviewable prescription and the record-keeping our pharmacy practice requires. We may refuse quantities, strengths, or repeat supplies that appear inconsistent with the prescription or regulatory limits. Confirmed business and licence disclosures are published on Licence Information — this policy does not list licence numbers.
6. Clarification, rejection, and partial approval
After review, a prescription or Rx order line may be:
- Approved — eligible items proceed to packing and shipping under the Shipping Policy;
- Needs clarification — we may ask for a clearer file, missing patient details, or confirmation before deciding;
- Partially approved — some medicines or quantities may be approved while others are declined; approved items may ship and declined items are cancelled with a refund of prepaid amounts for those items;
- Rejected — Rx items are cancelled and prepaid amounts for those items are refunded. Where we can, we share a high-level reason (for example, illegible Rx or patient mismatch) without providing clinical advice.
See also the Cancellation Policy for how refunds are handled when Rx items cannot be fulfilled.
7. Privacy and secure handling of prescription files
Prescription files are sensitive health-related data. On Meds&More:
- uploads are safety-scanned before acceptance;
- accepted files are encrypted before storage on a dedicated prescriptions storage area;
- access is limited to authorised pharmacy and support staff for review, fulfilment, and dispute resolution;
- access events may be logged for security and audit;
- files are retained as needed for pharmacy, legal, and operational obligations, then deleted or anonymised where practicable.
We do not use prescription images for unrelated marketing. Full details are in our Privacy Policy.
8. Linking prescriptions to patients and orders
- You may save patient profiles in your account so prescriptions can be associated with the correct patient (yourself or someone you are authorised to order for).
- When you place an order containing Rx items, the order is linked to the prescription used for pharmacist review so fulfilment staff can verify patient–Rx–medicine alignment.
- A single prescription may support one or more eligible order lines where clinically and regulatorily appropriate; it cannot be reused to bypass a fresh review when rules or validity require one.
9. Your responsibilities
By uploading a prescription or ordering Rx medicines, you confirm that:
- the prescription is authentic and has not been forged, altered, or reused unlawfully;
- you are the patient named on the Rx, or a caregiver / family member authorised to order for that patient;
- patient, address, and contact details you provide are accurate;
- medicines will be used only for the named patient under the prescriber’s directions;
- you will not order for unlawful diversion, resale, or misuse.
We may refuse or cancel orders, and may suspend accounts, where we reasonably suspect prescription misuse or fraud.
